In this essay I use gathered research to explain how blacks are negatively represented in the media, mostly through the news. Black faces are slapped on screens by the media more often than white faces. On average Africans Americans are arrested for crimes. However, white faces are not shown as much on a screen when they commit some of the same crimes as whites.
In the essay I suggest possible solutions that will ultimately unite groups of people better through urban media outlets increasing efforts to improve communities. The main solutions are becoming more involved in news reporting that affects the minority and poor population to inform, highlighting the good in local communities, and media outlets creating community groups and events.
